The Bitter Root Resource Conservation and Development Area, Inc is accepting proposals from qualified CPA firms to provide Federal Single Audit services for our fiscal year 2024.
Our organization requires the following services:
- Annual financial statement audit
- Federal Single Audit
- Management letter
The purpose of this audit is to ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements related to the receipt and disbursement of federal grant funds, and to provide valuable insights that will help us improve our financial management practices.
The Bitter Root Resource Conservation and Development Area, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1965. Our Mission is to provide leadership and support on natural and community resource issues and projects in our service area of Missoula, Mineral, and Ravalli counties, and beyond. We assist our community with facilitating the planning, coordination, and implementation of initiatives which promote a sustainable rural lifestyle for current and future generations. Approximately half of our work is fiscally sponsoring startup non-profits.
Currently our most significant program is our own Hazardous Fuels Reduction program. This program offers a cost share to private forest landowners to perform prescribed thinning on forested areas of their property. The goal of the program is multifaceted and includes promoting forest stewardship on private property, reducing the risk and intensity of wildfires within the wildland urban interface by restoring stand density to their historic density prior to human fire suppression efforts. Increase public safety and protect public assets by creating more defensible areas for wildland firefighters to stop fires before they pose a threat the larger community. The program is funded through various grants from the DNRC, USDA and other private charitable organizations.
Our main source of income is admin fees assessed in accordance with our Negotiated Indirect Cost Rate Agreement (NICRA) with the USDA Forest Service.
