Helena Indian Alliance (HIA) invites you to submit a proposal for the preparation of its yearly audited financial statements and related filings for a three-year period beginning with the 2024 fiscal year ending September 30th 2024. The audit of HIA’s financial statements must be performed in accordance with generally accepted governmental auditing standards.
Helena Indian Alliance is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The mission of Helena Indian Alliance is to advocate for and support the mental, physical, spiritual, and social wellness of the American Indian/Alaska Native population and the broader community. The organization is dedicated to fostering holistic health and cultural empowerment through comprehensive services and community engagement.

Helena Indian Alliance is an Urban Indian Organization that has several grants and contracts with the federal government under the Indian Health Services (I.H.S.). HIA is a certified substance abuse facility with Montana Department of Health & Human Services with comprehensive outpatient treatment services.
Helena Indian Alliance requires the following services:
- Annual financial statement audit
- Federal single audit
- Preparation of IRS form 990
- Management letter
- Presentation of the results of the audit to the Finance and Audit Committee and/or the Board of Directors
- Minimal consultation on financial and other matters related to the organization, as needed
All of the above must be completed within six (6) months. First three (3) months for FY24 and last 3 months for FY25.
All proposals must include: a) Evidence of the firm’s qualifications to provide the above services; b) Background and experience in auditing nonprofit clients; c) The size and organizational structure of the auditor’s firm; d) Statement of the firm’s understanding of the work to be performed, including tax and non-audit services; e) A proposed timeline for fieldwork and final reporting; f) Proposed fee structure for each of the three years of the proposal period, including whatever guarantees can be given regarding increases in future years, and the maximum fee that would be charged; g) Describe your billing rates and procedures for technical questions that may come up during the year, or whether these occasional services are covered in the proposed fee structure; h) Names of the partner, audit manager, and field staff who will be assigned to our audit and provide biographies, i) A copy of your firm’s most recent peer review report, the related letter of comments, and the firm’s response to the letter of comments; and j) References and contact information from at least 2 comparable nonprofit audit clients.
