The Big Mountain Resort Area District (BMRAD), a newly established special district in Flathead County, Montana, is requesting proposals from qualified independent auditors to conduct annual financial statement audits. The engagement covers three fiscal years: July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028, with the option to extend for an additional two years.
The District was created in July 2024, with voters approving a 3% resort tax effective June 2025. Audit services are required due to annual collections exceeding $1 million.
The selected auditor will perform audits in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards (GAAS) and Government Auditing Standards. The scope includes issuing an opinion on financial statements, evaluating internal controls, and testing compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
The District operates on a modified cash basis using QuickBooks Pro 2024, with oversight provided by a contracted CPA. Financial activity is limited, with no employees or owned assets, and funds held in local bank accounts and the Montana State Investment Pool.
Proposals will be evaluated based on the firm’s ability to meet the project timeline, cost, and relevant governmental audit experience. The anticipated schedule includes audit completion by fall 2026 and report issuance by December 2026.
Interested firms must be licensed in Montana, independent, and listed on the State’s roster of approved local government auditors. Submission packages should include qualifications, staffing, schedule confirmation, and pricing details.
