Advancing Opportunities is searching for a Treasurer to serve on Board
Seeking a Treasurer with experience in financial oversight, planning, accountability, and audits to help guide our Board and support families we serve in Madagascar.

Founded in 2000, Advancing Opportunities in Madagascar (AOM), formerly known as Aid to Orphans of Madagascar, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization partnering to improve the lives of Malagasy children and their families through programs and initiatives that cultivate hope, opportunity, and self determination.
Our work initially focused on helping children in orphanages. Over the past 26 years, our mission has evolved and now reframes our goals to keep families together by strengthening educational, social, and economic opportunity in order to secure a stronger, more vibrant Madagascar for children and their families.
We are looking for a candidate who has experience with financial planning, oversight, and accountability, including audits. Someone who is looking for a meaningful experience and a desire to share their ideas with the families we work with in Madagascar and maintaining the duties of Treasurer of our Board.
Board Terms & Commitment:
- Our Board Members serve for a 3-year term
- Board Meets every other month for 1 hour, plus additional committee work
- Time commitment is estimated to be 3-5 hours a month
Board Responsibilities:
- Attend bi-monthly meetings, actively engage in Board and committee work
- Contribute your time and talent to Advancing Opportunities in Madagascar (AOM)
- Stay informed about our programs, partnerships, operations, marketing strategies,
- fundraising activities, and other strategic priorities
- Serve as an ambassador for AOM by helping to identify personal connections that can
- benefit the organization’s fundraising capabilities
- Engage in learning opportunities to better understand the communities we serve
- Listen deeply to our Malagasy partners and allies
- Honor our values of self-determination, dignity, respect, and collaboration
