In-House Accountant/ Financial Administrator

Candidates who possess the knowledge and experience to maintain records of financial transactions and assist in managing our day-to-day accounting are strongly preferred. Ideally, the Admin will master the mechanics of our companies’ core accounting over the first 6-12 months of employment, with special emphasis on accurate tracking of income and expenses among the several entities.

Over time, this position would ideally grow to encompass more responsibility, including the opportunity to assist with the financial management of our equine veterinary practice group. In other words, this position can be more than just a book-keeper gig. Our ideal candidate will start by learning the mechanics of our record-keeping under the guidance of the Practice Manager and Hospital Director.

Over the longer-term, the position will develop more autonomy, with authority to report directly to the Board of Directors. There is potential to work as an Independent Contractor OR as an Employee, depending on applicant’s preference.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Entering Accounts Payables Categorization by GL/Expense Type;

 Interact with Vendors to correct/audit payments;

 Accurately record all financial transactions (Daily/Weekly/Monthly “End of Day” reports with categorization by GL/Profit Center);

 Balance the general ledger;

 Preparing Detailed Quarterly Financial Statements for internal audit/management purposes;

 Manage multiple company accounts;

 Manage staff payroll and contracts;

 Monitor compliance with local accounting laws and regulations; and

 Track deviations from the budget.

Qualifications

 Bachelor’s degree in accountancy or related field from an accredited institution is preferred, as is a background of practical experience in the real world;

 Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles;

 Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers;  Precision, accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail;

 Well-practiced organizational skills;

 Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;

 Integrity and confidentiality; this position requires the bookkeeper to maintain the entire organization’s financial records;

 Committed to consistently meeting deadlines;

 In-depth knowledge of necessary bookkeeping procedures, best practices, and terminology.

STARTING WAGE: $30-$40 per hour (contingent on experience) (Salary would be considered, if that is preferred).
