Join our team! Associated Employers is hiring a Financial Controller to direct and oversee the financial activities of the organization. This position provides financial information and analysis to management and oversees accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements goals, policies, priorities and procedures relating to accounting and implements a system of controls over accounting transactions, inventory and property.
  • Prepares financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, tax returns, and governmental agency reports and performs external financial reporting.
  • Executes and oversees the input and maintenance of accounting records to show receipts and disbursements.
  • Maintains and reconciles general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, accounts payable, depreciation, cost, property and operating expenses.
  • Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
  • Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
  • Develops annual budget and forecasts and reports significant budget differences to management.
  • Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Receives and processes documents such as invoices and checks; audits and researches discrepancies.
  • Oversees the posting of business transactions such as deposits and payables; monitors accounts payable and receivable to ensure that payments are up to date.
  • Investigates problems that vendors or purchasing agents have with obtaining payment for bills.
  • Oversees the preparation of invoices, checks, account statements, reports and other records, and reviews for accuracy.
  • Provides backup leadership and oversight of the Payroll services department.
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of best practices relating to payroll processes and procedures.
  • May supervise, direct work assignments for other staff and carry out interviewing, hiring, onboarding and training of employees.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation required.
  • At least five years of financial accounting experience.
  • A combination of experience and education equivalent to the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work at a high level will be considered.

  • We offer wages based on regional market data and commensurate with experience.
