Big News for CPA Exam Candidates in Montana!
October 02, 2025
The new rules for the CPA Exam window in Montana are now official! Here’s what you need to know:
- 30-Month Rule: You now have 30 months to pass all four sections of the CPA Exam.
- When it Starts: The clock begins on the date NASBA releases your first passing score.
- Take in Any Order: You can take the exam sections individually, in any order.
- Rolling 30 Months: Once your first passing score is released, you have a rolling 30-month period to complete the rest.
- Expiration: If you don’t pass all sections within 30 months, any expired sections must be retaken.
- Final Section Rule: The 30 months end on the date you sit for your final section (not when the score is released).
- Hardship Exception: Extensions may be granted if approved by the Montana Board of Public Accountants.
Example: If you passed AUD and NASBA released your score on 9/15/2025, you have until 3/15/2028 to pass the other sections.
